I have always been intrigued with the moon.
Especially a full moon...the mystery and
romance associated with it. Here the full
moon peeks through a clearing, casting
it's light on the sea.

I simply love the adobe homes and dwellings
scattered through out New Mexico and Arizona.
Add some blooming cactus and red yucca for
a slice of southwest paradise.

I love the wetlands through out the south. There
are so many coves and hidden places...touches
of paradise. One could spend a life time and
never capture it all.

This image is from a friends ranch during autumn here in North Texas.
I thought it was wonderful seeing the bright red of the post oak stand
out against the greens of the live oaks and the golds and browns of the
field grass.

Probably one of the most important aspects in landscape painting is the
creation of depth. Without depth a landscape painting will appear flat
and one-dimensional. Admittedly depth was one of the areas in which I
struggled. Not because I did not understand the concept…it was more a
matter of patience with me. I was so eager to get to the mid or
foreground focal point or “meat” of the work, I would sacrifice the
foundation on which to build the painting! After many, many file C works
